At Breckinridge County Animal Shelter, we are dedicated to providing a wide range of services to animals in need and creating a compassionate community for both animals and humans. Here's a brief overview of the services we offer:
Our mission at the Breckinridge County Animal Shelter is to connect compassionate individuals and families with their perfect furry companions, creating lifelong bonds of joy and companionship for years to come.
We assist in reuniting lost pets with their owners through PetCo's "Love Lost" lost and found services. If you have found a stray animal or lost a beloved pet, we can provide resources, microchip scanning, and a central database to help facilitate reunions.
We understand that some pet owners may face temporary financial hardships. In such cases, we provide assistance programs, such as low-cost spay/neuter clinics, pet food banks, and temporary foster care, to help keep pets with their loving families.
Our biggest priority is the safety and well-being of all animals in Breckinridge County. We routinely offer wellness clinics, where we ensure all pets are up-to-date on all shots and vaccinations and and living happy, healthy lives.
Gates blow open, doors are left ajar, escape artists hop fences... Things happen! Microchipping your pet helps return your loved ones to you. Fast! Microchipping works and only costs $20. Please call (270) 580-4299 to make an schedule an appointment to microchip your pet today!
Our shelter thrives on the support and dedication of our volunteers. We offer various volunteer opportunities, including animal care, socialization, adoption events, fundraising, and administrative tasks.
Dog Foster Field Trips
Did you know you could check a dog out and take them on a field trip away from the shelter for a few hours?
We check dogs out during the week from 12PM to 3:30PM - they just need to be back by 4PM for dinner! Simply bring your ID and come in to the shelter and request to take a dog on dog field trip.
