Licensing your dog with us ensures not only compliance with local regulations but also contributes to the well-being of all animals in our care.
Please view the notices below for dog licenses and kennel licenses. You MUST come to the shelter to pay for your licenses. You can find the applications for each below. You may fill out the application online, or print it out and bring it with you when you come to the shelter to pay.
According to County Ordinance 2010-0913: “Owners of a dog (6) months of age or over and residents of Kentucky shall obtain a license for each individual dog owned for the required fee per metal tag. Proof of a valid Rabies vaccination shall be required to obtain a county license.”
Dog tag licenses are to be obtained and renewed annually, on or before July 1 of each year and are available from the Animal Control Officer.
License Fees:
Lifetime License: $25 (To obtain a lifetime license, pets must be spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on Rabies vaccinations.
Senior Lifetime License: $10 (Senior dog identified as 8 years or older)
3 Year License (Spayed/Neutered): $20
1 Year License (Spayed/Neutered): $5
1 Year License (Unaltered): $15
Owners with spayed or neutered dogs must show proof of such alteration in order to receive the discount.
Licenses will be sold at the Breckinridge County Animal Shelter at 498 Glen Nash Ln. Hardinsburg, KY. on every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Saturday 11am to 1pm.
